Roeslein & Associates, Inc. is participating in the United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), National Safety Stand Down to Prevent Falls In Construction week, May 8-12th, 2017. The purpose of the National Fall Prevention Stand-Down is to raise awareness of preventing fall hazards in construction.

Roeslein’s Modular Fabrication Facility (RMF) in Red Bud, IL is leading the way for Roeslein when it comes to practicing safety. “It is a job expectation to work safe at Roeslein; fall prevention is just one aspect of our program” says Ryan Kirkpatrick, EHS Manager.

According to OSHA’s website, “Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 350 of the 937 construction fatalities recorded in 2015.”  Had prevention safety been recognized and followed, these falls could have all been prevented. Team Leaders are encouraged to work with their team and to share ideas on ways to prevent working at heights and implementing engineered controls.

“We want to highlight the seriousness of fall hazards and continually investigate ways to engineer out the hazards for both our fabrication facilities and in our construction activities,” Kirkpatrick continued. “At Roeslein we address fall hazards by working to engineer out the fall hazard first. When we have to work at heights we ensure the hazard is addressed, communicated, and a control is in place. Prevention is at the heart of this week. Pulling our teams together to stop and focus on fall prevention, even if for a moment, is a small win in preventing falls.”
