Can-Pack, S.A.
Kiev, Ukraine
Since the days of the Varangian trade route linking Constantinople with the Caucasus and the Crimea with Calicia and Western Europe, Kiev has grown from a stop along the Varangian route to the largest city in Ukraine. Kiev is the Ukrainian capital and a leading industrial, commercial, and cultural center, making it the opportune place for Can-Pack to invest in. The completion of the Kiev factory was Can-Pack’s third in Europe.
Can-Pack’s factory produces modern aluminum beverage cans in a suburb of the Ukrainian capital. When the factory was first built, there was one 1800 cpm line, with a production output of 650 million cans per year. But since 2003, Can-Pack has expanded its operation and increased its production output to over 2 billion cans per year.
For the installation of Line 5 in Kiev, Roeslein originally provided engineering, supply conversion components, and conveyance, while Can-Pack was responsible for their own unit sections and piping. Because of the past successes together, both teams felt very comfortable working together closely, banding efforts and responsibilities together to make sure the final product was a success.
Then in 2003, for the expansion and can size change, Roeslein once again provided engineering and design, supply conversion components, and installation services in order to speed up production output, replace the necker and other machines, and change the can size to 33cl.
The partnership between Roeslein and Can-Pack has thrived because of the strong relationships built between the personnel and their shared experiences. Not only have the employees bonded on the job site, but they have also created lasting friendships by exploring Romania and its castles together. When one asks the employees about working with those from the other company, both are described as “knowledgeable, hard-working, and excellent to work with.” This mutual respect creates an atmosphere ready to generate success.
